We're looking for a hands-on, employee-focused HR Generalist to support employees across North America while contributing to global HR processes. This role is ideal for someone who loves delivering high-quality employee support, thrives in a fast-paced environment, and is excited to help strengthen HR systems and documentation across regions. Based in Washington, DC, this position reports directly to the Global Head of HR Operations and will serve as a key partner to HR Operations, HRBPs, and employees across the organization.
What You’Ll Do
as an HR Generalist Employee Support Experience Serve as the first point of contact for employees in North America and a global resource for employee HR inquiries. Provide timely, friendly support with questions about

, policies, time off, payroll, systems navigation, and general HR processes. Ensure new hires experience a smooth, well-organized onboarding process and that departing employees complete offboarding steps consistently. Escalate manager-facing, employee relations, or other complex matters to the appropriate HRBP .
HR Documentation, Data Accuracy Compliance Maintain up-to-date employee documentation, including contracts, forms, and other required records. Ensure HR data accuracy across HRIS and documentation repositories by performing regular audits and updates. Complete compliance tasks, including file audits, eligibility documentation verification, and regulatory-required updates.
Support global consistency in documentation standards and tracking. Process Execution Global Coordination Execute core HR processes across multiple regions by following established workflows and ensuring accuracy at each step. Partner with the Global HR Operations team to support consistent, reliable process execution (e.
g., onboarding, offboarding, changes, compliance updates). Document process updates and improvements to enhance clarity, reduce errors, and support scalability.
HR Systems Record Management Enter, update, and maintain employee data in HR systems with attention to accuracy and completeness. Troubleshoot basic system questions from employees and escalate technical issues appropriately. Support periodic HR system clean-ups and configuration updates in partnership with Global HR Operations.
, Leave Employee Relations Support Assist employees with routine
questions and help navigate resources and self-service tools. Coordinate leave-related documentation and communication in partnership with the Total Rewards team. Provide first-level employee-relations support and escalate complex or manager-facing issues to HRBPs.
Continuous Improvement Special Projects Identify opportunities to improve HR processes, documentation clarity, and the overall employee experience. Support global HR initiatives and operations projects led by the Global Head of HR Operations. Collect and share feedback from employees to help continuously refine HR programs, tools, and workflows.
Key Skills: 2-5 years of HR Generalist, HR Operations, or People Operations experience. Working knowledge of U.S.
employment law and HR compliance
Requirements
Hig h degree of accuracy in maintaining employee documentation and HR data. Strong communication and customer-service orientation with the ability to build trust across cultures. Strong organizational skills and ability to manage multiple tasks while maintaining attention to detail.
Experience handling confidential information with professionalism and discretion. Comfort working in dynamic, fast-paced environments; tech or aerospace experience a plus. Familiarity with HRIS systems and HR documentation standards.
Spire operates a hybrid work model, and this position will require you to work a minimum of three days per week in the office. Access to US export-controlled software and/or technology may be required for this role.
