If you want to put your skills to work where the stakes are real and the mission is bigger than any one person, forge the future with Voyager. The Welder / Fabricator will be located onsite in Penrose, CO with transition to Pueblo, CO and reports to the Machining and Fabrication Manager. This role is responsible for reading blueprints, fabricating precision metal components, and producing high-quality welds across multiple processes — playing a critical role in maintaining production quality and supporting Voyager Energetics’ facility build-out and mission-critical manufacturing programs.
In this role, the essential functions are: Read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and work orders to determine fabrication specifications and sequencing. Set up and operate welding equipment across multiple processes (MIG, TIG, Stick/SMAW) to produce welds meeting dimensional and quality standards. Cut, shape, and fit metal parts using saws, shears, plasma cutters, and grinders; fabricate components from raw materials according to engineering specifications.
Inspect finished welds and fabricated parts for quality, dimensional accuracy, and adherence to specifications; maintain accurate production records and documentation. Operate hand and power tools safely and in compliance with shop standards; maintain and perform basic upkeep on welding and fabrication equipment. Follow all safety protocols and maintain a clean, organized work area in compliance with OSHA and site-specific safety standards.

Minimal travel expected; primarily an onsite role in Penrose, CO. Ability to lift, move, or carry items or equipment up to 75 pounds.

High School Diploma or equivalent with 2 years of welding/fabrication experience OR completion of an accredited welding trade program with demonstrated hands-on proficiency. Proficiency in MIG and/or TIG welding with the ability to produce consistent, high-quality welds across varying material types and thicknesses. Ability to read and interpret blueprints, technical drawings, and work orders with a strong attention to detail and commitment to quality workmanship.
Working knowledge of metal properties and fabrication techniques, including experience with hand tools, power tools, and common shop machinery. Strong self-starter with the ability to work both independently and as a contributing team member in a fast-paced startup environment, maintaining high standards of safety and workmanship.
Preferred Qualifications
AWS certification or equivalent welding qualification. Experience in a defense, aerospace, or other precision manufacturing environment.
