Senior Data Engineer, Hockey Operations Organization: Florida Panthers Hockey Club Department: Hockey Operations – Research & Development Reports To: Director of Research and Development FLSA Status: Exempt (Salaried) Employment Type: Full-Time Location: Baptist Health IcePlex, Fort Lauderdale, FL — On-Site Schedule: Flexibility required for evenings, weekends, and holidays during key periods of the hockey calendar (Trade Deadline, Amateur Draft, Training Camp) Job Summary As a Senior Data Engineer, you will serve as a foundational member of the R&D team, responsible for designing, building, and maintaining the data infrastructure that powers our hockey analytics platform. You will lead engineering initiatives across our data warehouse, pipeline architecture, and modeling systems — ensuring that analysts, scouts, and hockey operations staff have reliable, well-structured data to work from every day.
This role requires strong technical depth, excellent judgment in data architecture decisions, and the ability to collaborate closely with non-technical hockey operations stakeholders. You will report directly to the Director of Research and Development and play a key role in shaping how the organization builds and scales its analytical advantage.
Responsibilities
Architect, develop, and maintain scalable ETL pipelines supporting both batch and real-time data workflows across Hockey Operations Design and optimize data warehouse structures, storage strategies, and compute workflows on Google Cloud Platform for long-term reliability and performance Integrate multiple sources of data from both existing and emerging technologies to continuously improve the organization's analytical platform Drive automation initiatives to reduce manual workflows and improve pipeline observability through monitoring, alerting, and logging Partner with analysts, scouts, and Hockey Operations staff to translate business questions into well-engineered, scalable data solutions
Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Data Science, Engineering, or a related field required; Master's degree preferred Minimum of 4–6 years of professional experience in data engineering, database management, or closely related roles Demonstrated experience leading data engineering projects or mentoring junior engineers Prior experience working in sports anal
