P. DUTIES: Evaluate sustainability and climate-related risks and opportunities associated with existing and potential investments to enhance long-term portfolio resilience and value creation. Assess financial and operational implications of environmental factors, including capital expenditures required for portfolio companies to comply with sustainability and climate-related regulations.
Develop and present strategic recommendations to senior management regarding climate risk integration, investment risk mitigation, and sustainability priorities, ensuring alignment with overall business and investment objectives. Collaborate with centralized operating, legal, compliance, and public policy teams to support the implementation of firmwide operational standards, governance frameworks, and best practices related to sustainability and other topics across real estate investment and asset management activities. Partner with internal operating and data teams to help standardize sustainability-related and other operational reporting, performance metrics, and information flows that support senior management oversight and enterprise decision-making.
Engage with senior management to communicate findings, discuss investment implications, and advise on firmwide strategies that incorporate sustainability and climate considerations into decision-making. Lead the design and implementation of sustainability initiatives approved by senior management, including projects related to climate change mitigation, biodiversity conservation, and fund-level net-zero commitments. Set strategic priorities and manage sustainability programs across multiple asset classes, including tracking initiatives, progress, and performance against defined goals, and overseeing related budgets and resource allocation.
Coordinate with internal stakeholders, portfolio companies, and external consultants to ensure consistent implementation of sustainability programs and integration of environmental considerations into investment processes. Review and analyze sustainability data, including energy consumption, greenhouse gas emissions, and natural resource usage, and prepare reports and presentations summarizing key insights and recommendations for senior management and investment committees. Identify and define sustainability factors and performance metrics necessary to enhance environmental programs, and review analyses conducted by external advisors and specialized consultants to ensure technical accuracy, feasibility, and consistency with firmwide strategic goals.
Leverage internal and external data sources to identify environmental and climate risks affecting investments, particularly in real assets, and provide recommendations to senior management to inform investment decisions and strengthen risk management frameworks. Collaborate with industry professionals across the limited partner (LP) and general partner (GP) landscape, maintaining relationships with global asset managers, investment partners, and asset owners to align on sustainability expectations, data transparency, and value creation objectives.
