About The Role

The Turbine Diaphragm Welder will be responsible for the repair, fabrication, and refurbishment of steam turbine diaphragms and related components used in power generation facilities. This is a highly specialized position requiring precision welding expertise and a strong working knowledge of steam turbine internals ONSITE ROLE: This position is based on site at the Lark facility in Mount Holly, North Carolina. This is not a travel-based position.

Responsibilities

Perform TIG (GTAW) and other welding processes on steam turbine diaphragms, including nozzle repair, partition weld refurbishment, and structural weld repairs on inner and outer rings Fabricate and repair diaphragm components including nozzles, spacer bands, sidewalls, and seal segments using stainless steel, Inconel, carbon steel, and other alloy materials Assess and repair damage modes including foreign object damage, solid-particle erosion, moisture erosion, cracking, and structural weld failure Read and interpret engineering drawings, blueprints, weld procedure specifications (WPS), and work instructions to execute repairs to OEM tolerances Set up, operate, and maintain welding equipment including TIG/MIG machines, grinders, and plasma cutting torches Perform pre- and post-weld heat treatment as required per engineering specifications Conduct dimensional inspections and quality checks using precision measuring instruments to verify compliance with engineering specifications Collaborate with engineers, machinists, and quality personnel to plan repair sequences and prioritize workload Document work completed including weld records, traveler sheets, and quality inspection reports Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area in compliance with all facility safety policies and applicable regulations Assist with other turbine component repairs as assigned, including blade rings, casings, seals, and rotating components Experience / Required
