The Director of Operations - Italy, is EdgeConneX’s regional operations leader will be accountable for the 24×7×365 performance of all data centres across Italy. This role is responsible for translating corporate objectives into executable regional plans, leading Campus Managers and site teams through established policies and standards, and driving continuous improvement in operational procedures and practices. The Director will oversee regional budget execution, shapes workforce priorities, and partners closely with cross-functional stakeholders including, Sales, Engineering, PMO, and Customer teams.
This role requires onsite training and onboarding at one or more EdgeConneX locations. Travel is expected to be significant during the first six months.
Responsibilities
Own overall operational performance across all Italian data centre sites, including uptime, SLA compliance, PUE, safety, and customer satisfaction, while delivering results in line with company policies and targets. Lead Campus Managers across Italy, managing team performance, setting objectives, and guiding workforce planning and development within established HR frameworks. Translate objective-based assignments from the VP of Operations into effective resource plans, schedules, and operational methods required to achieve defined goals.
Recommend and implement changes to regional operational policies, procedures, and standards, ensuring consistency across all sites. Manage execution of the regional operating budget, monitor costs, and identify operational expenditure efficiencies without compromising uptime or service quality. Oversee the regional vendor and contractor landscape, ensuring contractual SLA and KPI commitments are met.
Oversee the preventive maintenance programme, change management, incident management, and disaster recovery planning across the Italian portfolio. Provide operational leadership and input into new site commissioning, capacity expansions, and infrastructure upgrades across the region. Build and maintain strong relationships with key customers and internal stakeholders, acting as the senior escalation point for regional operational issues.
Partner with cross-functional teams including Sales, Finance, HR, and PMO to align operational readiness with business growth objectives. Maintain active relationships with local regulatory authorities to ensure timely compliance with statutory notifications, reporting obligations, and inspections, and serve as the regional point of contact for regulatory enquiries and audits. Report regional KPIs and business performance to the VP of Operations, preparing business reviews and recommendations to support decision-making.
Travel as required Knowledge, Skills & Abilities Proven leader and confident decision-maker whose judgement carries significant business impact. Knowledge of multi-site, cross-border operational leadership practices, including team development through subordinate managers. Knowledge of data centre operational standards, best practices, and 24x7 critical infrastructure management.
