As Sr. Database Administrator I , you’ll supports resolution of issues with production transaction and interface files fine-tuning database indexes and storage configurations, patches, and version upgrades. Supports configuration and administrative activities related to Oracle Database and MicroSoft SQL.

What You’Ll Do
: Responsible for database maintenance, performance tuning, and security. Perform daily checks on both Oracle and Microsoft SQL Server environments to ensure high availability, optimal system management, and smooth administrative operations. Run, verify, and manage daily database backups and archiving schedules to prevent data loss and guarantee reliable disaster recovery options.
Identify and resolve bottlenecks day-to-day by tuning slow-running queries, adjusting indexing, and optimizing overall database performance. Respond to immediate user issues and technical glitches that don't require full development lifecycles, such as troubleshooting user accounts or resolving portal access errors. Handle routine security and administrative updates, including modifying existing portal configurations and managing granular user permissions.
Prepare for future system improvements by testing patches, software updates, and major database upgrades in a non-production environment. Keep a complete, accurate, and up-to-date library of technical documentation for all current and expanding database systems. What you’ll need to succeed: Active DoD Secret Clearance Bachelor's Degree plus 5 years of experience with Oracle and Microsoft SQL databases and hold relevant certifications, such as: Oracle Certified Professional, Microsoft Certified Solutions Expert, etc.
Experience supporting the Department of Defense or another Federal Agency.
