ABOUT THE ROLE
To maintain the high standards of quality and craftsmanship in every bus, GILLIG is seeking qualified individuals to join our assembly team in the Paint department. Our Automotive Painters are responsible for applying paint and coatings to our buses, ensuring a high-quality finish that exceeds industry standards. Automotive painters must have a keen eye for detail, knowledge of different painting methods, and the ability to work with precision and in a team environment.
This role requires meticulous attention to detail, excellent communication skills, adaptability, and the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment while adhering to safety protocols. IN THIS ROLE YOU WILL Use problem solving skills and attention to detail to contribute to the completion of the body and aesthetics of a bus Masks and protects parts that are not to be painted or coated Fills cavities and dents with Bondo to attain smooth surface Selects and mixes paint according to specifications Blends color between adjacent parts in order to optimize integration into the bodywork Lays out stripe patterns to achieves desired aesthetics Inspect and verify the quality of work and document defects observed Maintains tools and keeps equipment clean and in a proper state of repair.
QUALIFICATIONS
Ability to work full-time Ability to work effectively in a team-oriented production or manufacturing environment, demonstrating strong interpersonal and effective communication skills Proven experience as an automotive painter with Minimum 3 years’ experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience Attention to detail and precision in paint application Ability to follow work instructions Efficiently manage time to meet production deadlines and targets Able to frequently and repetitively, lift, push, and carry up to 70 lbs Ability to perform physically demanding work for extended periods, up to 8+ hours per day Must be able to read, speak and understand English, both written and verbal Ability to adhere to safety protocols and guidelines Knowledge in use of computers and tablets for data entry and assembly instruction research High School Diploma or equivalent WORK ENVIRONMENT/PHYSICAL
REQUIREMENTS
Fast-paced and high-quality manufacturing environment Requires frequent and repetitive bend, lift, squat, kneel, twist, and reach motions to install vehicle parts within specified timeframes Ability to climb and maintain balance on ladders, scaffolding, or other elevated structures Wear Personal Protective Equipment, including safety glasses, coveralls, respirators, hearing protection, and gloves, while following safety rules and guidelines Union Participation is required St
