Overview The Production Scheduler is responsible for developing and executing production plans that align customer demand with manufacturing capacity, ensuring efficient operations and on-time delivery. This role partners closely with Production, Engineering, Quality, Supply Chain, Customer Service, and Shipping to optimize material flow, inventory performance, and overall operational effectiveness.
The position also provides direct supervision to Product Handler(s), ensuring accuracy in material movement and inventory control.
Responsibilities
• Develop, maintain, and adjust daily, weekly, and monthly production schedules based on demand, capacity, and business priorities • Monitor production performance and proactively resolve scheduling challenges related to downtime, material availability, or shifting customer
Requirements
• Coordinate production priorities across Manufacturing, Engineering, Quality, and Customer Service teams • Analyze capacity and identify potential bottlenecks that may impact delivery timelines • Align production schedules with inventory targets and customer service goals • Review open orders and forecast data to drive effective production planning decisions • Provide schedule updates, risks, and performance insights during production meetings • Oversee WIP and finished goods inventory levels to ensure accuracy and availability • Coordinate material releases, dispositions, and inventory movements with internal partners • Ensure accurate inventory transactions within ERP systems (JDE or equivalent) • Partner with Shipping and Receiving to ensure timely material flow and order fulfillment • Identify and communicate inventory risks, shortages, and excess conditions • Supervise Product Handler(s), assigning daily priorities and ensuring efficient material handling and staging • Ensure proper identification, tracking, and documentation of WIP and finished goods • Provide coaching, training, and performance feedback to support team development • Maintain compliance with safety, company policies, and inventory control procedures • Collaborate cross-functionally on rework, inspections, and product disposition activities • Communicate schedule changes and inventory impacts to stakeholders in a timely manner • Support continuous improvement initiatives related to scheduling, inventory management, and operational efficiency • Generate and analyze reports on production performance, schedule attainment, inventory levels, and service metrics Must Haves • Experience working in a manufacturing environment • 3–5 years of experience in production scheduling, planning, inventory control, or operations • Experience using ERP/MRP systems (e.g., JDE) • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and data interpretation skills • Proficiency with Microsoft Office tools • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills • Excellent verbal and written communication skills • Ability to collaborate effectively across cross-functional teams • Demonstrated ability to build working relationships across all levels of an organization Nice to Haves • Bachelor’s degree in Industrial Engineering, Supply Chain, Operations Management, or a related field preferred • Previous supervis
